Alumni Directories

  1. Policy

    The Office of University Development recognizes that alumni directories (including print and online versions) and online alumni networking platforms are an important tool in alumni relations and provide a valuable benefit to alumni of the University of Michigan. When producing and offering alumni directories or online alumni networking platforms, the university wishes to protect alumni information to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Use and Release of Donor and Alumni Information

Applies to: All Departments and Units of the University
  1. Policy

    This policy governs the use and release of all information about development constituents of the University of Michigan. For the purpose of this SPG, “development constituents” will be defined as alumni, donors, prospective donors to the University, and their associated contacts. Information about development constituents that is in the University’s possession is considered institutional data as defined in Standard Practice Guide 601.12 “Institutional Data Resource Management Policy”.

Gift Acceptance

Applies to: All Departments and Units of the University
  1. Policy

    The solicitation and acceptance of private gifts and gift commitment (pledges), including support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and associations, is governed by the Bylaws of the University of Michigan’s (“U-M”) Board of Regents (“regents”). This authority applies without qualification to schools, colleges, and units (“SCUs”), regional campuses, and to all members of the university community who might solicit or receive gifts in the university’s name.

Funeral Time

Applies to: All Regular Faculty and Staff with the exception of those covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement
  1. Policy

    In the case of death in an employee's immediate family, the University provides up to three days (a maximum of 24 hours) paid time off work for the employee to make necessary arrangements, attend the funeral or memorial services and to settle family affairs. If additional time is needed, accrued vacation time, Paid Time Off, or excused absence without pay may be requested.
